If you can’t trust how your supplement is made, where it’s from, or what’s in it, how can you confidently rely on it to help?
Of course, the supplement industry stays constantly in flux as competition drives innovations forward, but as we combed the endless aisles of Expo West 2022 with an open mind, we kept these universal quality indicators at the forefront.
Here are a few of the best health and wellness supplement brands we engaged with at Expo West, from CBD and herbal remedy brands to a doctor-founded nutrition company.
“This is a retail-only, full-spectrum, certified organic, CBD gummy with two milligrams of THC per gummy. And they’re going like hotcakes here at Expo.”– Jim Higdon, Co-founder of Cornbread Hemp
After cracking open the story of the nation’s largest illegal cannabis growing syndicate in his book, The Cornbread Mafia, author and Cornbread Hemp co-founder Jim Higdon determined he would enter the market the right way—with a premium line of fully legal, Kentucky-grown hemp oils, gummies, and topicals.
Speaking of, we spoke to Jim in-person at the Cornbread Hemp booth, and he told us about some of Cornbread’s CBD gummies.
“This is a retail-only, full-spectrum, certified organic, CBD gummy with two milligrams of THC per gummy,” said Higdon, holding up a small package. “And they’re going like hotcakes here at Expo.”
Cornbread Hemp differentiates themselves from the competition by being one of the only brands to offer all of the “big three” quality indicators: USDA organic, flower-only, full-spectrum hemp products.
The idea behind Ancient Nutrition was to fill some of the most prevalent gaps in the modern diet by delivering ancient nutrients in a conveniently packaged format.– The Nutrition Insider
According to co-founder Josh Axe, DC, DNM, CNS, the idea behind Ancient Nutrition (est. 2016) was to fill some of the most prevalent gaps in the modern diet by delivering ancient nutrients in a conveniently packaged format.
Their Bone Broth Protein, for example, solves the pain point of asking each patient (of Dr. Axe’s former functional medicine practice) to go home and make bone broth themselves, a painstaking process that tanked overall compliance.
At the Ancient Nutrition booth, the brand’s popular Multi-Collagen Protein powder was on display, as well as their commitment to donating 1% of their revenue to the RANCH Project, which is intended to promote regenerative agriculture, nutrition, and climate health.
“We have a product for everyone and for every time of the day.”– Keely Holtz, Support Team at Nuleaf
Well before the peak of the “CBD boom,” NuLeaf Naturals (est. 2014) was already bringing full-spectrum, organic hemp extracts to market.
“We have a product for everyone and for every time of the day,” said Keely Holtz, a member of the Nuleaf support team, as she showed off Nuleaf’s CBD and minor cannabinoid products, including a multi-cannabinoid oil that boasts a 1:1 ratio of CBD to CBG, CBN, and CBC.
“We were founded upon the principles of our mission statement, and our mission statement is: people and planet before profit.”– Shawn Donnille, Owner and CEO of Mountain Rose Herbs
Operating since 1987, Mountain Rose Herbs is among the more “seasoned” brands we had the chance to speak with at this year’s Natural Health Products Expo West.
Though they’ve evolved throughout the years, the now nationwide purveyor of all-organic herbs and spices, aromatherapy products, teas, essential oils, and more have stuck to their roots when it comes to ethical sourcing, packaging, and more.
“We were founded upon the principles of our mission statement, and our mission statement is: people and planet before profit,” said Shawn Donnille, Owner and CEO of Mountain Rose Herbs.
“We’re a mission-driven company and that’s ultimately what made us as successful as we are,” he added.
